How To Take The Best Care Of Ageing Skin

When it comes to the beauty and health of your face, there are many kinds of treatments that can be performed. There was once a time when women were the ones primarily concerned with keeping their skin healthy, but nowadays many men are jumping on the bandwagon. Creams, lotions, and gels are still mostly bought by women, but there are also products that are made specifically with men in mind.

The first part of the body that others see is your face. Whether you're a man or woman, it's important for most people to look their best. Your skin tells people a lot about you. In a world where youth and vibrancy often leads to quicker steps up the ladder, wanting to look as young as possible, for as long as possible, is a relevant concern.

Although there are some people who go to great lengths to keep their youthful appearance, taking care of your skin isn't about vanity. Your face is the one part of your body that is constantly exposed to the elements and takes the greatest beating from the sun. All of these things can cause the skin on one's face to deteriorate much faster than it should.

Applying firming lotions and wrinkle creams on a daily/nightly basis can help. However, to keep your skin in the best condition possible, you might want to consider supplementing your daily upkeep with some type of galvanic treatment. A skincare therapist will have all the tools and machinery required to bring new life to facial skin, and they will be able to explain the benefits in great detail.

Adding electricity into the mix means the creation of more oxygen beneath the skin. Circulation is greatly improved this way, and the production of precious collagen is increased. Detoxification of the dermis is also more easily obtainable with this method. Impurities on the surface can be zapped away, but more importantly, electricity can penetrate deep below the surface and tighten the muscles beneath the skin.

Keeping your skin healthy and vibrant is crucial if you wish to appear more youthful. Not only can appearing younger make you look better, it can also do a heck of a job making you feel better. When it comes to the skin, proper care begins at home, but if you want the fastest, most noticeable male grooming results, you should consider looking into visiting a therapist that provides people with electric facial treatments.

I have recently discovered a really fantastic skincare range that I am going to add to my treatments over the next few months.

It’s the Eve Taylor aromatherapy skin care range which is a professional skincare brand that is paraben free and using only natural aromatherapy products and the best range of plant essences. Eve Taylor has over four decades of skincare experience so you can be sure that your skin will get the best quality product range.

I shall be using the Eve Taylor pre blended massage oils for all my aromatherapy massage treatments and as part of my Signature massage treatment I shall be using the Eve Taylor candles and the warm Soya wax can be massaged directly onto the body and I shall include this within my reflex massage. The warm massage oil combined with the aroma of the burning candle creates a really relaxing aromatherapy treatment.

I shall also be offering the range as part of my facial treatments that I provide within my male grooming service these include soothing, purifying and deep cleansing facial products. At the moment I provide a basic range of facial treatments but I shall soon be providing a selection of Mechanical facial treatments including Galvanic facials and a range of others. Male Grooming - Facials for Men

Male Grooming – Facial Treatments for Men

With more and more men increasing their range of male grooming treatments there are now a vast selection of skincare products and facial treatments readily available to the male consumer.

All the major skincare companies have developed their product range and now provide an extensive range of facial products for professional use by therapists and also a range of retail skincare which is packaged and designed to appeal to men.

So yes real men do have facials and enjoy the range of male grooming treatments available to them. Most commercials and adverts during football and other sports often contain adverts aimed at the male consumer offering a better and improved range of grooming products for men, gone are the days of Brut 33 and Denim aftershave!!

As part of our male grooming service we provide a range of men’s facials using the professional skincare range from Thalgo. The product is a superior brand with a range of products full of good healthy marine elements that cleanse moisturise and balance your skin leaving you feeling healthier, cleaner and glowing..

Often men’s skin is different to women often thicker with much larger pores and generally requires different product.

Facials for men often include more a much stronger massage for the face neck and shoulders.

However the aim for us all is the same to achieve a good cleansing and exfoliation to remove dull dead skin cells and a mask designed to moisturise and balance the skin and a firm face massage to stimulate the muscles and create a natural lift.

Some men have razor burns, skin that’s exposed to the elements or fairly sensitive skin so the type of products used and the type of mask applied can make all the difference.

We have a selection of face masks that suits most skin types some of these are peel off masks and some are brush on masks , some with marine algae and some with a cooling mint masque combined with a white clay for the more sensitive skin types.

It is much better if you can shave before your facial so that you can get a much closer facial treatment and the skin will feel much better and more moisturised at the end of the treatments.

Proud To Be Part Of The Perron Rigot Expert Network

Perron Rigot have recently launched their new Expert Network scheme for 2011.

I am very pleased to be part of this. The criteria for the Expert Network is that all salons or therapists only use Perron Rigot waxes and not any other brand of wax and that the therapists have all been trained by either Andy Rouillard or "Wax Queen" Kim Lawless and they will also have to attend regular Perron Rigot discovery days to keep themselves updated with the waxes and to try new ranges and products as they are developed.

Therapists who train with Andy and Kim have been trained to the highest industry standard and these skills  will set them apart of the competition. I have trained with both  Andy and Kim and the standard of training is excellent and I am more than happy  to recommend the training to any other therapists or salons.

The Expert Network website will soon be available and will include a directory of therapists and salons that are part of the scheme so that customers can find a therapist in their area that offers Perron Rigot waxing treatments.

The Perron Rigot range of waxes includes the popular signature waxes ; Cristal Ocean and Euroblonde but also includes a huge range to ensure that the requirements of all clients and salons are met including cream waxes, aromatherapy waxes, hypoallergenic and many others in both strip and non strip waxes .

Range of retail products for male waxing aftercare

For several months I have been retailing a range of products for my  clients after their male waxing treatments. The range includes a selection of natural organic tea based skin care products from a company called Outback Organics.

The range I sell includes a great skin wash which is suitable for use in the shower and really helps to keep freshly waxed skin clean -  the natural anti bacterial properties are great for the prevention of ingrown hairs.

The hand and body lotion I use in the treatment room at the end of all my body waxing treatments and I retail this product in 250 ml bottles the same size as the skin wash. Again the tea tree based hand and body lotion offers a soothing cleansing and moisturising aftercare product.

My recommended aftercare pack for my clients includes both these products and a Japanese wash cloth it really is a great range and it works if used as recommended as part of your aftercare regime.

As well as this range I also retail a tea tree spot stick, tea tree body wipes and a tea tree deodorant which is suitable for use directly after waxing in the underarm area.

Details of all these products are available from my studio or by mail order in between appointments.

What to Include As Part Of Your Male Waxing Aftercare

Quite often male waxing clients are first timers with no or very little knowledge about good practice guidelines and the best range of retail products to provide them with enough information to ensure they do all the correct things to maintain their freshly waxed skin. It is worth remembering that whilst more men are having male grooming treatments it’s often the case that they don’t openly discuss these treatments with their work colleagues etc so they are not always sharing tips on best practice so make it easy for your male clients and spell it out for them!!

Your website is generally the best place to offer basic post waxing advice so your new clients have some idea of what’s expected from them. It’s also very important to state some good advice tips for pre waxing treatments ; the ideal hair length and those clients who shave or clipper need to allow enough time between this and their waxing treatment to achieve the best results. As a client there is nothing more disappointing than turning up for your waxing appointment only to be advised that the hair is too short and that you will need to return several weeks later....

As a therapist or waxing studio if you prefer that your male clients trim their hair prior to their appointment then this should be clearly stated on your website and you need to also state the best length for hair removal. As a male waxing therapist I prefer to trim my clients hair myself so that I ensure it’s neither too short or too long.

During the waxing treatment is often the best time to chat with your client; find out their current skin care regime in terms of shower and bath products , the method of exfoliation ( if any ) that they use and what type of body lotions or moisturisers they use on their skin. This is a great opportunity to then give the best advice as to how they can maintain their skin and the way they can achieve that. If you retail a range of products that can help them to achieve this then recommend these and explain the reasons why these products will work better. If your client cannot afford to purchase the range that you retail it’s a really good idea to be able to recommend a range of products that they can purchase on the high street so at least they have some options that they can consider.

As a male therapist and also as a person who has waxing I feel that clients often appreciate honest and practical advice from people who have tried and tested the products and the procedures. It’s much better to sell a range of skin care when you know that it really does what it says on the tin!!..

At the end of the treatment this is your last opportunity to give your client a recap on all your good practice male waxing aftercare advice and to give them something to take away as part of their waxing aftercare.

Give them some written guidelines; keep it short and concise so they can see at a glance the main points. Explain the ways to deal with certain situations and really what they should expect in terms of skin reaction over the next 48 hours. Whilst most clients’ skin will settle quite quickly there are some clients who experience some reaction and they need to know that this is normal and they need to know how to deal with it and what to do and more importantly what not to do with it. If you can provide some samples or a small quantity of any skin care in terms of a shower wash and a moisturiser this gives your client the chance to try out the range you provide but also allows them to start the regime whilst they source their own products.

We all recognise the need for exfoliation and not every man has a washcloth or loofahs in their bathroom ready to use so perhaps provide a disposable exfoliating mitt so they can start their exfoliation once the skin has settled down and then purchase something more substantial.

As our clients leave us they take with them the new experience of their waxing treatment and whatever aftercare advice we give them, so take the opportunity to give the best aftercare advice and its hopefully another regular client you can add to the list.

The Best Carrier Oils for Aromatherapy Massage

The Best Carrier Oils for Aromatherapy Massage

When shopping around for suitable carrier oils to use with various blends of essential oils to create aromatherapy oil blends for using for massage treatments, there are a few carrier oils to know about.

Using carrier oils to help with essential oils may create the ultimate aromatherapy blend. While there are many essential oils on the market used for massages, creating the perfect blend with carrier oils may help. The best carrier oils for aromatherapy massage, could involve several different ones, and often different carrier oils work better on different areas of the body and many therapists use a different oil on the face than on the rest of the body, for example the face often benefits from a blend that is more suitable for delicate areas, and as an anti ageing treatment. Each product will have its own advantages to be aware of. The best product will depend on the purpose of the oil and the person who it will be applied to.

A carrier oil is used to help carry the nutrients to the skin with the essential oils. Using just the essential ones could be too harsh on the skin and could cause serious damage, essential oils require various quantities of dilution in a carrier oil to make them safe to use and to maximise the benefit from the essential oils. Therapists need to have knowledge of essential oils, how to use them safely, how to create blends that will work for individual clients and will not cause adverse reaction. A good mixture of both essential oil and suitable carrier oil can create the ultimate blend for any relaxing treatment. When just plain essential oils may not be gentle for the skin, massage therapists will need to create a mix that works. Finding the right carrier oil could bring the substance to a perfect blend. As with all massage therapies, aromatherapy requires a proper consultation with the client’s medical history to ensure there are no contraindications from using the particular blend of oils.

Coconut oil is a great oil to use as it does not stain the sheets, which may be a common issue in some spas. It also has a long shelf life, which means it can be used sparingly over time as it should last for a long period of time. Only a fraction of the actual coconut is removed leaving a medium triglyceride. While people may think of a typical white thick substance coming from the coconut, it is surprisingly clear and non staining. Often coconut oil is used for lomi lomi massage treatments.

The avocado oil is derived right from the avocado fruit. It is green and pasty and may appear thick. It has to be mixed with other oils to create the perfect substance for massage. It is rich in many vitamins and antioxidants. Often avocado oil is used for face massage.

Almond oil is the most popular oil used in massage clinics and spas. It is oily but it will glide over any skin surface with ease. It will not irritate the skin which makes it perfect for anyone with sensitive skin. Almond oil is generally used for most body massage therapies, and often used on its own without any essential oils for Swedish and other non-scented massage treatments.

Apricot kernel oil is very similar to almond oil. It is full of vitamin E which blends easily into the skin for maximum health benefits. With this oil it will absorb into the skin upon contact. That means it does not feel greasy on the skin. This oil is also ideal for anyone with a nut allergy.

Jojoba oil is a wax substance that is pulled from the jojoba plant. It is believed to have antibacterial qualities which make it ideal for any one with acne prone skin or sensitive pores. The shelf life is also long lasting. The substance will not irritate the skin and will absorb into the skin and pores

When you are trying to create a perfect relaxing aromatherapy massage treatments, there are so many great essential oils available, which will lift the mood, relax your client and create the perfect aromatherapy massage treatment.

As a massage therapist I offer a range of aromatherapy massage treatments and the relaxing blends are generally the more popular. I also provide a range of detoxifying and invigorating massage treatments using various essential oils to create an individual blend for each client.

Having lived in Crete for a few years I have used some great essential oils that are endemic to the island of Crete. I create various blends for my clients and as part of my male grooming business offer a signature massage which blends a lot of these essential oils to create a really relaxing and therapeutic massage treatment.

There are so many carrier oils available and with a huge variety of clients I use a range of the carrier oils to suit the area that I treat, depending on the skin type, the area being treated and also the time of years. Often in winter month’s skin can be dry and will benefit from the oil application as well as the beneficial properties of the particular essential oils used for the massage.

Stay Young with Male Grooming

Stay Young with Male Grooming

If you care about the way you look, and live in the UK's capital, it can be of value finding a salon that specializes in male grooming in London. Though it is possible to care for our hair and skin ourselves, by treating yourself to regular cosmetic procedures at the hands of a professional, you will discover that your outward appearance is more healthy and desirable.

Male grooming is now a massive industry. It was not all that long ago when most guys would've balked at the idea of visiting a salon. Today we find that it is a choice made by countless men, and of all ages. It is thanks to role models such as David Beckham and Russell Brand that male beauty care has become an accepted activity.

If you want to remain young looking for as long as theoretically possible, it is worth finding out what male grooming services are available in your local salon. There are certain services which are extremely popular with men of all backgrounds. For example, facials, body scrubs and related treatments can make you feel and appear younger, and also have a positive effect on the condition of the skin.

Most men have oilier skin than the average woman, and there are many reasons for this. As guys typically spend less time cleaning their bodies, it can occur that grime and bacteria build up that lead to an unhealthy appearance. By choosing to undergo facial treatments on a regular basis, you can retain a glow that is extremely attractive. Facials can also help to minimize the risk of spots and acne developing, as dead skin cells can be removed through a process of exfoliation.

If you believe you can save yourself some cash by exfoliating your skin by yourself, you will only be half right. Sure, it is possible for any one of us to scrub off dead skin cells at home, by attending a male spa you would discover that the results are a lot more attractive. At the hands of a professional, you will find that your skin is left feeling incredibly fresh, clean, and smooth, far more than if you were to exfoliate in your own home.

It is amazing the difference that a bit of pampering can make to our state of mind. If you wear to treat yourself to a visit to a spa, you will end up feeling like you have a new lease of life. Never underestimate the psychological impact of undertaking a range of professional grooming techniques. They can be used to boost both self confidence and self esteem.

If you are yet to book an appointment at a male beauty salon in London, it is worth making inquiries with as many establishments as possible, prior to confirming your attendance. Alongside comparing the costs, you should also make yourself aware of what different treatments and techniques are offered at each of the salon's you are checking out.

If possible, always search for a male grooming in London spa or grooming studio that has the best possible reputation. A small amount of research online should allow you to understand which salons have the most prestige and which should be avoided. Male grooming has never been so easy.

Male Chest Waxing - What's Included in Your Treatment

Male Chest Waxing – What’s included within your Treatment

With more and more guys following the trend to wax their chests either as a pre holiday wax treatment or as part of a regular male grooming regime I want to explain the chest waxing treatment, offer some good practice pre and aftercare guidelines and look at some of the best ways to avoid a break out...

Chest hair is generally fairly deep rooted hair, close to the heart so nice strong hair follicles with a rich blood supply, and often seen as a more uncomfortable male waxing treatment as opposed to the back waxing or other men’s body areas.

It’s not uncommon for virgin waxers to have an initial reaction after their first chest wax, with small bumps and redness, this can be normal for a lot of guys, and generally within a few days the chest settles down again. I find that clients who take anti histamine, for a day before their waxing and a few days after seem to manage the reaction a lot better. I have a lot of clients who wax their chests and a lot of these clients find that the anti histamine has helped.

I generally trim longer chest hair first before I begin any waxing, and then cleanse the skin before applying a small amount of pre waxing oil, the oil allows the wax to cling to the hair and not to the skin, and makes the hair removal on the chest so much more comfortable.

For most of my chest waxing treatments I use two waxing methods, I apply non strip waxes on certain areas, and then I also use strip waxes on other parts. I find that some parts of the chest can be more sensitive so the non strip waxes work better in those parts.

All the waxes used for my treatments are Perron Rigot hypoallergenic wax so they minimise the reaction on the skin. I never use a roller waxing method on this area, as I find that it can drag and can be slightly uncomfortable for the clients ( in my opinion I find that for male waxing roller systems work best on the legs and on the back only).

At the end of a chest wax, after I have used Jasmine oil and cleansers, I then apply a mixture of a refreshing aloe Vera gel mixed with some tea tree after waxing moisturiser to soothe the chest area.

As with all waxing procedures clients need to avoid touching the area and to keep the skin clean and cool. If clients are coming straight from work to their appointment it’s often best if they can bring a clean cotton loose fitting t-shirt to change into at the end of the treatment.

Aftercare guidelines really do need to be followed, and during the treatment I will discuss these in detail with the client, and I will follow this up with an aftercare pack, which also includes written after care notes.

If guys follow the aftercare guidelines they generally can manage to keep the skin smooth and can generally avoid a break out in this area.

I retail several products that can assist with the maintenance programme and I can also often recommend alternatives that can be purchased on the high street. Often with male waxing, for the chest and for any part of the body, if you follow the basic aftercare guidelines, keeping skin clean , cool , and then following an exfoliation programme you can keep the skin clear, smooth and looking good...
